Nice one Ed. Very subtle. The path line is a great device here, and crucial to the sense of ‘having got away from’ everything. It gives a real sense of daily purpose – that linear drudge of just getting from A to B – juxtaposed with the relaxed party under the tree distant from it. A real ‘celebration of the ordinary’.
John, thanks mate. I did think carefully about this one and wasn’t sure if I liked the path in there. I went with my gut feeling though and in fact you’ve hit spot on what I was feeling. I also like the fact that just above the group and path in a gap between the leaves there is the sun umbrella of another group. Hinting at a wider world beyond also. i like small details like this.
